Myspace Marketing for Musicians - TIPS

Here is an excerpt from my eBooklet, Using Myspace to Create a Buzz... at a Music Conference

Being Effective With The Right Photo

The key to being effective on Myspace is making that one-on-one connection. You can accomplish this with the right photo.

An important element is sticking to one main photo. Some artists and bands change their profile photo regularly. This takes away from creating a recognizable image of you or your band. Think of yourself or your band as a brand. Yes a brand! Make sure your Myspace page reflects this.

It's very important to use a great, upclose photograph as your Myspace profile picture. Too many bands use a group shot that is too far away and hard to make out. I hate it when I can't get a feel for the band or artist. Image is everything! I think it's extremely important to use a great photo that reflects the band or artist. Myspace allows you to make personal connections with fans, potential fans and industry professionals. You want to make an impression! In the case of GoGirlsMusic.com, I use an up-close photo of myself (because I'm the face of the organization) and I'm smiling. It's warm and inviting and says, "Hey, I'm friendly and approachable." It works for me and can work for you. I continually have people walking up to me, introducing themselves and say they know me from Myspace.
